Sometimes life is unfair, just like the weather; sometimes it’s cold, rainy, and windy, and other times it’s very hot.

One morning I was sitting in the park under the shade of a tree, listening to the differences among the sounds of the birds and enjoying the cool fresh air that moved from the lake towards me. At that moment I saw something very beautiful and attractive and charming. It was like I was day dreaming. The perfect weather, hot with a cool, dry wind, seemed a sign of good things to come.

I began repeatedly drinking water to steady myself, yet I still felt my body temperature burning, my heart pumping my blood very fast, and my eyes nearly popping out.

A very beautiful girl sat across from me. She was tall and slender, with long, beautiful black African hair, a long, sharp nose, juicy lips, and pure, beautiful white teeth. My mind was far away because she took my mind from my body with her smile and her beautiful eyes, which shone like shooting stars.

She was sitting on a bench not ten meters away from me, busy reading a book.
After thirty minutes she came toward me. I noticed her coming near me but I didn’t know what to do or say. Finally, she passed right next to me, raising her right hand and greeting me.

“Hello,” she said.

I took more than sixty seconds to reply, in awe of her presence.

“Hi,” I replied at last.

“How are you?” she asked, smiling at me.

Again I took time to reply, feeling like something was choking me.

“I’m fine and you?” I answered, breathless.

“I’m good. What are you doing here in the park?” she asked.

This time I tried to respond as quickly as possible. “I’m just chilling to refresh my mind, and you?” I said.

“I was bored and I decided to come here and try to finish this book because I love reading,” she replied. She looked like she was about to say something else but at that moment her cell phone started to ring. We had only just been starting our conversation when she answered her phone.

“Hello Mom…yes I’m coming,” she said before putting her phone back inside her hand bag. “Sorry,” she said turning back to me, “I have to rush back home. I hope we will meet again. Bye.”

“Good bye,” I responded.

I couldn’t feel my feet or my hands, suddenly feeling very cold as if it were the winter season.
I quickly gathered my things and followed her, my aim being to see where she stayed. Unfortunately, her mother came to fetch her with a big German car and, just like that, I saw them driving away. I felt like I had lost everything in life because I had fallen in love with her at first sight. At that moment my knees became weak.

I began wondering about her and kept asking myself too many questions that I couldn’t answer. Each and every day I went to the park hoping to see her but I never did.

Two months later when I was walking down the street from school, I saw a beautiful car coming towards me. I couldn’t see clearly who was driving because its windows were very dark. It stopped next to me, but I ignored it and kept on walking. The driver started hooting repeatedly at me and just as I was getting annoyed, I heard a sweet and charming voice say “hi you.”

When I turned around I saw the beautiful girl that I had met at the park getting out of the car and calling to me. She was alone in the car this time.

Looking at her once more, I froze, even though she was coming straight toward me. She was even more beautiful, more attractive, and more charming than I had remembered her, and she was wearing expensive clothes and shoes.

Before she could even reach me I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, taking in the smell of her expensive perfume coming closer. She took hold of my hand and said, “Open your eyes.” At that moment she pulled me towards the car, my body fevered and shook.

When I opened my eyes she was opening the door for me and saying, “Let’s go and grab something to eat.” With that, she jumped into the car without saying another word.

On the way we had a simple conversation, and the whole time I was thinking about myself, because I was just a simple and ordinary person and this girl seemed to be from a rich family. She drove to the most expensive Bed & Breakfast where she placed orders for food and drinks. We started eating and chatting as if we’d known each other for ages. I told her everything about myself and she told me everything about herself. She told me her father was a magistrate and her mother a politician, while she herself was an advocate.

After she paid the bill she led me out by the hand, saying she had a surprise for me. We rushed to the car and drove away. I wanted to let her know how I felt about her, but I didn’t know how to start and she didn’t give me the chance because she was very talkative.

We went to the mall and she bought me clothes and shoes. Right as we were about to get in the car to leave, she asked me to spend the night with her at the hotel. I agreed because I needed enough time to tell her how much I loved her.

At the hotel she told me she wanted to take a quick bath. I decided to use the time to take a shower in the adjoining room. When I got back I found her half naked waiting for me. She was breathing as if she had been running and her eyes were shining like diamonds. She quickly grabbed me, kissed me, and told me she loved me. I told her I loved her too and we ended up making love.

When we were still in bed she asked me what took me so long to tell her I loved her. She even told me she had loved me from the first time we met at the park. I couldn’t believe my ears. Had she not found me that day, I would’ve lost out on the love of my life.

Do you believe in love at first sight?
