There was one thing that Lebogang and her mother disagreed about – her cellphone. Her mother thought she was paying it too much attention and it was distracting her. Lebogang thought her mother was being silly.

One sunny day in Alexandra Lebogang went to her best friend’s house. On her way there came a message from a friend, Onele – it was a funny joke. Lebogang was laughing and distracted. She went into the road without checking for cars properly. She stopped laughing quickly because a car came so fast she was nearly run over. She ran away in panic and only later realised she had dropped her phone and left it behind.

Lebogang knew she would never forget that day her whole life. She realised her mother had spoken the truth and she started following the things her mother always told her.
