Nothing can ever compare to the uncertainty of not knowing which direction your life is going. Especially if you dropped out of university without completing your qualification then your family turns their backs to you and you are constantly rejected when applying for employment.

The cold world becomes more menacing when one has no direction or destination, doesn’t it? What are you going to follow if you don’t have a compass? What to look for without guidance? These are but just some of the questions I have asked myself because I now find myself in such a predicament.

Despite my hunger and desiring to learn and grow, regardless of the fact that I’ll to have work as long as it takes to achieve my goals, there are few opportunities available for people like me. I am a 22-year-old born free and am struggling to make something of myself, even though I am capable of doing so. I have come to believe that it doesn’t matter whether a person was born pre or post-apartheid, many of us are born in an invisible cell of poverty, unfair discrimination and inequality.
