What would you say a promise means to you?
I honestly don’t know. If you had asked me this years ago, I’d probably have said that a promise is a wonderful oath that gives one a sense of security and relevancy.
But now, I don’t know. I don’t know if I should say a promise is a temporary oath that’s made at a particular moment out of irrational emotions that are bound to pass. No matter how strongly the promise may come to be addressed to you, it’s bound to be broken at some point.
Therefore, like a compelling political speech, a promise is a wonderful and irresistible lie.
