FunDza was delighted to have received 171 entries to the ‘Being New in a Strange Place’ poetry competition, sponsored by the UNHCR. Many of these entries were absolutely fantastic, so the FunDza judges had a tough time selecting the top entries.

Big congratulations go to:

Adilet Hamid, winner of the Lenovo IdeaPad Notebook, for the poem In time.

And, the judges also recognised the following two as runners-up in the competition:

Sihle Mtolo, for the poem Welcome to Jozi.
Steven Mogale, for the poem New place; My hope.

The runners-up have each won In Search of Happiness by Sonwabiso Ngcowa and Nobody Will Ever Kill Me by Mbu Maloni.
